The Family Survey is the only nationally representative survey to be conducted with such a large sample (more than 300,000 men and women). This vast operation rendered is possible due to its association with the annual census survey. The enquête Famille et logements conducted in 2011 was the first additional survey associated with the new census survey. All the tests have improved and helped finalize the questionnaire, they were also intended to test the entire collection protocol. If it is unchanged from previous editions (the 4 pages survey is deposited and then collected with the census forms), the sample selection and field management of the survey were unpublished novelty. Indeed, the annual census survey is not exhaustive and municipalities are now responsible for the collecte.

Census

The census operation is described on the INSEE website. The Family and Housing Survey was designed as a pilot to test the feasibility and specify the conditions of conducting future surveys associated with the census on other topics.

The survey being part of the census, all the census informations: houhehold composition table and individual bulletins are available in addition to the survey data.
