In 1954
For the first time, a Family survey is coupled with the population census. It mainly consists in implementing additional questions, in the female census questionnaire only, about marriage and the number of children women have had.
At this outset, it covered married women who had completed their fertility, i.e. aged 45-54. With a coverage of one in fifty, the sample size has been set at 50 000 adult females.
